When Charlie was just 9 months old, I started the tradition of taking him to visit the Santa mailbox in Cary, and we've done it every year since. It's fun to sit at the table to write out Christmas lists, deliver them to this special mailbox, and get a reply from Santa a few days later. The boys love getting a letter back from Santa in the mail!
Here is the information for the Santa mailbox...they're doing it for 3 more days if you're interested!
And some pictures from dropping off their lists.....they asked for some pretty unrealistic things this year- a Nintendo game without the actual Nintendo ("we can play it at Mimi and Grandpa's house, Mommy!!"), and giant toys that would never fit in a toy bin (and that I would trip on at night while I'm getting my crushed ice)...so we had a conversation about how Santa brings things they can actually use. :) They HAVE been really sweet boys this year (and always) so I'm sure Christmas morning will be special for them.
^looking SO grown...how dare you, Crew!!
^a light in his favorite color...orange!
Here are a few more advent calendar items that we did last year and had so much fun with!
We're also really enjoying participating in our church's challenge of #Lighttheworld. (The video is so good.) I'm a firm believer in serving all year round, but with a season that can somehow become rushed and full of checking off to-do lists, I find it extra important to reach out to others and focus on why we actually celebrate Christmas.
I hope y'all are having a wonderful December so far!

OMG. Crew is getting so big!??! When did he grow up!?! I can't wait to see how beautiful your baby girl will be!! :) I love this tradition. It's something they'll remember for a lifetime!
Crew really is looking so grown up! When did that happen?!
I can't wait to see pictures from taking Santa letters next year when these boys will be playing around with their new SISTER:)
Speaking of asking Santa for unrealistic things...when my younger sister was about 6 she decided that Santa was going to bring her a cow. And no matter what my mother told her she insisted that Santa was going to do it, and all she would need was a gate for the cow. Not even a fence. That was a fun Christmas ;)
Crew is pal-ing around with his two big bros like there's nothing to it!
I had no idea this existed! The coolest idea ever!
oh my gosh this is just precious!! i love this tradition!!
