4 Things We Should Discuss about Gilmore Girls

^Standing in line at "Luke's Diner" a month or so ago^

I waited a few days to watch the Gilmore Girls revival...I needed everything to be perfect for the night I started it- boys in bed, candles lit, snacky snack ready to go.

I stopped "Winter" about 45 minutes into it because, for the life of me, I could not keep my eyes open.

I finally finished it....and even though I have enough thoughts to fill a 3 hour podcast, here are my 4 main thoughts from Gilmore Girls.

1.  Lorelei looked fantastic.

Truly! Winter, in my opinion, was the perfect season to start with.  Whoever styled Lauren Graham for all 4 episodes did a fantastic job.  The opening scene ^ with her pink peacoat and poof toboggan (beanie) was absolutely perfect.  I felt this way the entire time with Lorelei's hair, makeup, and outfits.

Rory's style, on the other hand, looked like my style in the early 2000s.  Slightly *off*.  Slightly ratchet.  Slightly......why are you wearing business trousers with a sleeveless blouse and heels that just. don't. belong???!

^Seen here.  Rory looking confusing and Lorelei styled perfectly.  And Luke...wearing the same thing he's always worn....so maybe this is me being sexist.

And one more thing about Lorelei's style.  Her Totes Y'all bag in Summer!!

I love Reese Witherspoon.  I love this Draper James bag.  And when I saw it, it gave me about 3 minutes of entertainment before the rest of the episode went on.

2.  I remembered how much Lorelei truly annoys me.

I dislike Lorelei's character just as much as I dislike Lauren Graham's character, Sarah Braverman, in Parenthood.  But somehow...I really like Lauren Graham playing these annoying, selfish, over-emotional human beings.  (Side note: did you know she has a book out? On my to-read list.)

In the first episode, at Lorelei's father's funeral, Lorelei's totally inappropriate comments about her dad post-funeral, and her reaction to her mother's totally appropriate response, brought all those feelings back.

3.  I am Team Dean.

And I don't care who knows it.

BUT! When Logan came on the screen for the first time, I literally gasped out loud.  And then thought...."how dare you look this beautiful, Logan!!  I can't betray Dean!!"

I loved Logan throughout the entire series.  The elaborate and stunning Life and Death Brigade scene was by far my favorite from the series...that Tango scene-gorgeous!!

4.  The "Last Four Words"

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I really like how they ended the show.  I think this is mainly because the entire series was unbearably boring and this actually got me excited and interested in what was going on.

Predictions:

*Rory is pregnant with the "Wookie's" baby and Jess steps up, marries Rory, and helps raise the child.

*Rory is pregnant with Logan's baby and they finally get married and travel and have 10 different homes around the world and do all the amazing things that don't really happen in real life.

Are we getting a movie?  Another series?  What'd you think about the revival?

Even though I totally binge watched the 4 seasons I agree they were much less climactic than I would have hoped. I think if the show would have been made into a movie rather than 4 90 minute seasons the creators would have been forced to create a "real plot line" rather than just jamming as many old characters in as possible. I liked the ending too, it's nice to have a cliff hanger that is a little imperfect. People's real lives are imperfect so I thought this element gave the relatively uneventful revival a bit more depth.

I think I feel about Rory the way you feel about Lorelei. I think she's incredibly privileged and can be so selfish and whiny at times. I was really hoping she would have gotten her life together by this point. However, a few days ago, I read an interview with Amy Sherman-Palladino explaining that this was the future she always saw for Rory right out of college at age 22, so in that vein it makes sense and it works. But at 32, I was hoping for more for Rory. I think I would have enjoyed the last four words more if that had been the case. Who knows where we'll go from here?!

So confession - I still haven't watched! I'm about 20 minutes into 'Winter,' but I've just heard through the grapevine that they really killed Logan's character (I'm a huuuuuge fan of Logan from the later GG seasons), so that put me off a bit. Also, from the 20 minutes that I did watch, something just seemed off... the acting was a bit awkward, the writing was a bit too "hey!! this is a revival!! wink wink!"

But I think I'm just being critical... I need to sit down and watch it the whole way through and I'm sure I'll love the characters all over again :)

Confession: I have never watched an episode of Gilmore Girls. Ever! Even my fiancee was like, "What?! Even I've watched an episode of Girlmore Girls!!" (I grew up under a rock!) I've heard so much hype about this revival though that I've been thinking about finding the original show on Netflix or something and binge-watching it :)

I was awaiting your thoughts! I was a little bored throughout, but still enjoyed it. I liked the ending. Almost coming full circle. I'd have to say team Jess though. Dean is #2, then Paul, then Logan. Just kidding about Paul. I am going to assume that Jess and Rory had intimate relations that they just didn't show on camera and it's his baby, lol.

I have to admit, I haven't seen the entire series. I actually can't remember when I stopped watching it, so I'd have to start at the beginning!

I've never watched Gilmore Girls, but I've seen so many people talking about it. Plus, the last time I turned on Netflix, I saw the series listed. I may have to check it out one day!

I've never seen an episode of Gilmore Girls. I know, I know. I've heard so many great things. I always remember you telling me you couldn't stand her annoying character, even in Parenthood (love)!! You're right though, they styled her perfectly! PS I also have a slight Reese Witherspoon obsession (It's also the only girl name Caleb likes if we ever have one) and she's always talking about Draper James. Everything is so cute!
