I took the boys to see Cinderella last week in the theaters, and oh how we loved it. The baby ate and slept, the big boys laughed (they loved the transformation scene) and ate a large popcorn, and I just might have cried 3 times. (Why did the scene where Cinderella's dress change make me cry??? Crazy hormones!)
The casting was perfect. Isn't Lily James just about perfect? I love her in Downton as well. Bellatrix Lestrange as the fairy godmother was such a brilliant choice, and Cate Blanchett's wardrobe was unbelievably gorgeous. The only thing I was hoping for was "The Prince is giving a ball!" number during one of the village scenes. I know it's wasn't a musical, but still...
It's a funny thing when you start thinking of the main characters of a movie as your children. I know I'm not old enough to be their mother, but I kept thinking about how I want my boys to find someone as sweet and beautiful as Cinderella, and to treat her kindly, and how I hope some mother out there is raising that kind of girl for my boys!
We were the last ones out of the theater. Charlie likes to go to the very front and look at the screen way up close during the credits. It was so special and sweet watching him watch the screen. It's still very surreal to me that I'm a mom to 3 beautiful boys. The sweet music was playing in the back, and I guess Charlie, with his special sixth sense, could tell that I was feeling all these things, so he comes up and takes my hand, and starts leading me in a little sway dance. The sweetness. My heart!

Ohhh Ashley...I can just envision this happening in the movie theater! And now I am tearing up! Your boys are just darling and I only wish I had a couple little girls for your boys. You are an amazing mother to them! Any girl would be lucky to have them!
I felt the same way when the village announced the ball. I love the Disney and the musical versions of Cinderella.
Your boys are just precious, Ashley :)
oh don't worry- I cried A Lot! haha! It really is such a great movie sounds like you all had a blast!
Charlie danced with you?! Be still, my heart!!! Oh my word! Your boys are simply the best. :) now I just need to see this movie!!!
You are such a wonderful mom, I know I don't know you in "real life" but the way you talk about your children is so simplistic but so filled with genuine love. It is beautiful! I hope your boys find their Cinderella someday too (:
Your boys seem to have the sweetest little personalities. Cinderella has always been my favorite Disney movie and I love the musical too. I've got to make plans to see the new movie soon!
What a fun and sweet experience! I want to see that movie so much and I am really looking forward to the point where I can take my daughter out for something like that!
Oh man, that Charlie boy is such a sweetheart! I've been wanting to go see Cinderella... gotta live out my princess fairytale vicariously through the movie screen!
I LOVED that movie! The message was just beautiful, and the dress was gorgeous, and all the editing of the mice and geese and the coach and everything was just wonderful. It is a definite must see;)
What a fun outing! I only think of young characters (like Nemo) as my children as I only have an 9 month old. I really want to see Cinderella. I've heard nothing but good things about it!
I saw this last week and loved it! I cried when she came down the stairs ready for the ball and the stepmother ripped her dress!
Oh Charlie, he's such a sensitive soul. I've got a boy in my life that is what I imagine Charlie to be grown up - and I consider myself to be a very lucky lady
So, so, sweet! I love your thoughts about wanting someone sweet and kind like Cinderella for your boys. I often think of Maddie's future in that same way.
I so love this movie too. I've seen so many different versions, of course, yet I still got upset during different scenes even though I knew how it would end. Such a beautiful movie and I loved the lead actress and step-mother as well. They dressed so the two so well!
