Past, Present, Future

27 Dresses, The Wedding Planner, Father of the Bride....all on my favorite movies list, and all movies I own.  Ever since I was little, I wanted to be a wedding planner.  I love everything about weddings and receptions, (do you see my flower girl face^...that gig was serious business to me), and have always liked things done the way they're supposed to be done.  I think all wedding planners have that nature about them.

Now, you couldn't pay me enough to be a wedding planner (even though I do have a Wedding Pinterest Board, because, duh, necessary!).  Pinterest wasn't even around when I got married 7 years ago, and I feel like it's completely blown the whole wedding industry out of proportion.  I feel like nothing would ever be good enough or big enough or special enough for the bride.  I still love helping with weddings...but being in charge of them? ....no thank you.

Right now I'm actually living my dream job.  I've always dreamed of having adorable little people to be a mommy to.  It's the best gig in the world...(and the hardest, ps.) I love going to museums, kid classes, soccer games, learning every name of every construction vehicle ever....all of it. (Well...the waking up in the middle of the night part, not so much...but looking back at their "hey, Mommy!" at 3am is pretty cute...when I'm fully rested and they're sleeping through the night.)

Even though the optometrist asked me the other day, "So you're just a mom now?", (ahhh!!!!!), this is my job now and I'm happy and content and know I'm doing exactly what I should be doing.

Once the boys are all in school, and Noel is settled in a job after law school, I'm planning on going back to school to get my Masters.  I've always thought I'd go back for Dance Education, like my undergrad, or Teaching.  Maybe I still will, but I'm leaning more towards Counseling now...we'll see how it all goes!

Are you currently living out your childhood dream job?!
Excited to be linking up with Helene today for her Blogtober challenge.

EWWWW! I can't believe someone said that to you! I think SAHMs are amazing (as are working moms). That's actually my dream job, which I blogged about today!

I agree with you, being a wedding planner in this day and age would be ummmm, too much? My planner was incredible, but there are so many lil things to worry about now, no thanks!

Stopping by from the link up!

I think it would still be fun to be a wedding planner, but then you'd meet all the REALLY psycho brides and I'd probably quickly change my mind haha.
I think it's awesome that you're a SAHM...I'd love to be able to do that if my husband and I can work it out financially--it's such a special time to be able to spend with your kids that you'll never get back. I bet you're a pretty great mommy to those kids too :)

Absolutely love this post!! You are such a sweet spirit and it shines through in not only what you write and do, but what your children do! I have always wanted to be a mom, always. Now that I'm close to that season of life it's a struggle because I feel like I should be out trying to create some career like my friends, but that isn't something I want right now! Now...let's talk about how adorable flower girl Ashley is ;)

I am actually a stay at home mom right now too. I knew that I wanted to stay home with my daughter for the first year so I didn't miss anything but now she's over a year and a half old...and I'm still home. I love it but part of me feels like I need to go out and get the social interaction from working. I've heard so many of those "so you just stay at home now" comments. Frustrating!!

I could never be a wedding planner. I so wish brides used Pinterest for INSPIRATION and not setting their expectations. It has totally blown everything out of proportion. Although it was around during my wedding, I'm happy to say I pretty much stayed off of it and had one of the most simple weddings ever. It was perfect!

That's so fun you may go back to school once the boys are grown. You're such a great momma!!! I used to never think id be a SAHM but now? It's totally a dream. I totally want to be the one to raise my kids, not some random daycare. I think I could balance that and photography, right? ;)

I actually have a "wedding planner certificate" but after planning my own wedding, I would never ever want to deal with that stress again.

Your movie list is another reason why we are friends ;) I never had a consistent job that I wanted when I was younger and interestingly enough though I have my dream job right now, I can't say that I have a be-all-end-all job. I think for me it will be ever evolving.

Ok first of all, your blog is adorable. SO glad I found it!

Also, unrelated, LOVE those wedding movies as well as My Best Friend's Wedding! And a SAHM is such a rewarding career. Can't wait for my turn! :)

Totally applauding you for wanting to get your masters degree ones your kids go to school. It's def a hard job to be a full time mommy, but very happy to read that you're enjoying it.
Even though being a wedding planner was a pretty cool dream of yours! ;)

You are an amazing mommy! Even though I'm not one, I know it is the best job (and hardest) in the whole world. I'm so happy you are thinking about a Masters and I know you can do it! I love you sis!

I've always thought it would be fun to be a wedding planner too. Maybe someday I'll be able to fulfill that role at least once. ;-)

Currently planning my own wedding, and I could NEVER be a wedding planner. This kind of stress and unrealistic expectations to live up to 24/7? PASS! PS- I think being a mommy would be a pretty dang cool job :)
