Amelia Island

We just got back from a week in Amelia Island, and this ^ is my top favorite picture of my sweet boys.  Nationwide Insurance treated all of their top qualifiers (my dad and mom) to a week full of yummy food, fun nights, and a memorable vacation.

I took pictures of all the party centerpieces and...everything Nationwide did, for future reference when I throw all those amazing parties I have on my to-do list.

They could do this all day, every day.

But Walker boy is his mommy's beach soul-mate and likes to take breaks in the shade.

And both boys took great snuggle snoozes after a long mornings/early afternoons on the beach.

Some really great things happened while we were there.  Charlie was having a rough 5 minutes one morning on the beach, and the sweetest sisters, Bella and Jillian, came over to him and Walker, and asked if they wanted to play.  They played for hours, digging holes, playing in the ocean, building sand castles.  It was such a fun treat for the boys (they had the time of their lives), and I actually finished a book (The Fault in our Stars) for the first time in months. Grateful for those amazing girls being so sweet to my boys!

Fun times with Auntie Kaitlyn and Uncle James.

Since we were going to the beach, we didn't need a stroller, but we did need the boys' carseats for the plane ride and for the drive from the airport to the hotel (which was about 30 mins.)  I found these Roll n' Gos at Babies R Us, and am so glad I did.  Car seats are way too heavy to carry through the airport, so these were great to have.

We do love the beach, but like always, it's great to be home.  In fact, today something snapped in my brain, and I purged my entire closet and entire house, really.  I went through a phase where I bought my clothes a size too big (why?!), so I'm selling those, and some that fit perfectly but needed to be closet needed a fresh start.  If you're interested in some great clothes for great prices that have barely been worn (some of them never or only once), go here to check it out!

Boys' Bathroom Makeover

^Before pictures

The JCPenney in my parents' town was closing a few months ago, so everything was 80% off. They had some great stuff!  I found this seersucker shower curtain for seriously a few dollars, and since the boys' bathroom has always been a little bland, it kickstarted a mini-makeover. Some things I had in my house, and some things I found for a great deal at Home Goods and Target.

So....the "After"...

The other day, Charlie and I were in my bathroom talking and getting ready for the day when we heard some splashing coming from the boys' bathroom.  Walker, aka The Wet Bandit, was on top of his counter with both sinks plugged up, splashing the water that was overflowing and flooding his bathroom floor.  I just looked at him, taking everything in, and his sweet little self looks up and says, "Hey mama!"

I hope you're having a great week!

Clinton Kelly!!

I've been a major fan of Clinton Kelly for as long as I can remember, so when I had the opportunity to go to his master class/fashion show this past Friday at Macy's, I was out of my mind excited.  I am the ultimate fan's true.

Loved his shoes...and his whole outfit, obviously.

And yes, he is just as amazing, funny, handsome, and perfect in person as he is on tv.

He first pulled a lady out of the audience and did an evaluation of her outfit. (She volunteered, so she was excited about it.)  He mentioned that when something is "off" with an outfit, it's usually due to proportion, so he suggested she wear some sort of heel or wedge with the combo of cropped pants with a longer top.

After the 360 evaluation, he went through some of his favorite trends.  What I loved about this part of the show was that he used a young, slim model, a curvy model, and a "mature" model as he called them, to showcase each trend.  ^This was American Icon trend.

All-white.  One of my personal favorites.

Soft pant trend.

New denim.

I loved them all and thought all the models looked amazing.  Another fun surprise for the night was that I bumped into one of my old dancing buddies.  He and his wife own The Cottage Salon in Durham, and did all the hair for the show.  They did a fantastic job!!

It was also fun being there with some of my blogging friends.  I enjoyed talking with Molly^ and a big thanks to Paige for taking the picture below.

Clinton Kelly also did a Q&A session and was really inspiring about life in general.  What a fun night!

I am a member of the Everywhere Society and Everywhere has provided me with compensation with this post for the Macy's Clinton Kelly event. However, as always, all thoughts and opinions expressed herein are my own.

Checking In

Skirt: c/o Bluetique

First off, I have been on a major blogging break these past few weeks.  Lots of things going on, (good things!), but I've been missing my blog friends (thanks for your emails, tweets, and texts!), and I also wanted to share with you a boutique I recently discovered.

Bluetique has many locations....I visited the one in downtown Raleigh (near NC State's campus), and just loved everything I saw in there.  I'm a big fan of skirts, so I knew this one would be a perfect addition to my summer, and really, year-round, collection.

How has the beginning of your summer been?!  I hope you're having a great week so far!
