Old-Fashioned

We went to a new park for a birthday party a few weeks ago, and there was a merry-go-round there!  I was so excited, because this was a park favorite of mine growing up, and because I haven't seen one in forever.

I see the potential danger in them...falling off, getting too dizzy...whatever(!), but I love that this park preserved a piece of good, ol' fashioned playground equipment.

I love that I'm raising the boys during this time...it's the time they were meant for and they're going to do amazing things, but I try so hard to teach them those "old fashioned" traditions and manners, and to introduce them to those experiences.

I have the inner mommy struggle on the daily about wanting the perfect balance for my boys.  I want them to have structured, learning time, but also want them to be able to play by themselves and discover knew things from doing that.  I want them to know how to handle and work an iPad, but don't want them to be in front of a screen for very long.

I'm working hard at it, and having fun doing it. Just want to make sure they get that good, home-training. :)

I hope you have an amazing weekend!!!!  Give a kiss, or a squeeze, or a call to a lady in your life who means a lot to you.

Getting even a small glimpse into your life as a mom just makes me that much more excited to be a mom one day! Even if I am nervous as all get out...you're doing something so right and those boys are bound for something great. Happy Mother's Day weekend!

I know what you mean! My oldest loves to play angry birds on my husband's phone. He actually knows his way around an iphone now which is crazy! He would watch tv all day too if I let him. We have to really watch how much 'electronic' time he gets.

OMG, Ashley! I'm SO there with you on this. I too want to ensure that Maddie keeps up with the times (i.e, understand technology) but I want her to be a full-blown kid too (i.e., play outside, get dirty, etc.), with manners and respect! So, call me old-fashioned too! Finding that balance is SO hard but you're doing a great job :)!!! Happy (early) Mother's Day to you, friend!

I've got to find this playground so I can ride that merry-go-round!

It is crazy how kids are growing up with so much more technology than we had! Hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day with your sweet boys!

I'm pretty sure I've been to that park! We just moved here about a month ago and have been checking out the park scene like crazy. If that's the one I'm thinking of it's actually one of the first one we went to. We intended to go to the larger park, but it was shut down for renovations so we ended up on the greenway and stumbled upon this one.

That Merry-Go-Round is killer! Little J took a tumble but because the padding, it was all good. It sort of makes me wonder how we survived our childhood. I certainly don't remember having padding on the playground!

It looks like you guys had a blast. Who knows, maybe we'll run into each other on the playground one day!

Happy Mothers Day love! I couldn't agree with the need for balance more. Kids grow up way too fast these days-a little old fashioned is good!
