Stuck

You've probably heard, but NC got hit really hard on Wednesday with a big snow storm.  We were leaving Janssen's house that morning; the roads were clear, the sun was out, and then out of nowhere it seemed like, the snow started coming down really fast and really hard.

The boys and I were stuck on the road, in the snow and ice, for over 2 hours....which is nothing compared to what others went through. (I know tons of people who were out for over 4 hours and some who had to abandon their cars.)  There were people slipping in the ditch right in front of us, trucks that were unable to move, and snow that was coming down so hard it made it almost impossible to see.  It was top 5 scariest moments of my life.

A really amazing thing, though, was all the acts of service I saw during those 2 hours.  People were getting out of their cars helping push vehicles out of the ditch, I heard of people giving other people rides..I felt like I saw everyone coming together to help each other through.

This experience was also a great teaching opportunity.  I prayed so hard in the car, Charlie prayed, we prayed a few more times....and when we got home, safe and sound, I was able to teach the boys that the reason we were home without any harm or damage, was because Heavenly Father heard and answered our prayers.

PS. This picture ^^ was when we ventured outside for a few minutes yesterday.  So grateful for everyone who helped others during the storm, and for all of those that had to travel and work despite the weather.

PPS.  Happy Valentine's Day!!

Prayers can make all the difference. I'm glad that you and the boys made it home safely - I'm sure Noel must have been really nervous.

How scary! My family lives in the Atlanta area and during the storm a few weeks ago one of their friends was stuck in the city overnight (but not
at a hotel :). Even being stuck for a couple hours would have me terrified! So sweet that you and Charlie could pray together. He will remember that and not you freaking out (which is probably what I would have done before and after praying! :)

So glad you are safe and sound! But seriously being snowed in is the best - I'm wondering if NC will finally invest in a snow plow...or two ;)
Happy Valentines day!

So thankful that you guys made it home safe. The stories of sevice reinstate my belief of good in the world and is something I work to instill in our little guy as well!

SO happy you are all okay! I know that was scary--especially with your babies! My friends from Atlanta were telling me horror stories about abandoning their cars, walking miles, etc. Nutso.I guess I moved away at the right time... And what a great lesson about God the day turned out to be! ;)

Love that you took something so scary, and turned it into a lesson to teach those sweet boys. It's amazing in the midst of tragedy, etc... How humanity kind of comes together. I love it! Love that shot of you in the snow! Happy HAPPY Valentine's day, gorgeous!!

Ugh! I can't imagine being out in that alone let alone with kids! I'm glad you made it home safely. Lee was driving in it too. His drive home from work usually takes 35 minutes and it took him almost 3 hours! I was happy to hear of all the "good Samaritans" out there helping one another.

SO glad you guys were able to make it home safely! I had to pick my husband up from work (less than a mile from our house), and it took me 30 minutes just to get there! Such crazy weather!

Happy Valentine's Day!! I am so glad to hear that you got home safely through all that mess. My friend's husband works out near Fuquay/Raleigh/that area and it took him 7 1/2 hours to get home to Goldsboro on Wednesday!

So glad you made it home okay! I was home in time because I had to get my boys off the bus (DPS got the timing perfect on this early release--the bus pulled up just as the snow started to fall!) but my hubs got caught in it. He was in Greensboro, but was able to make it home in just over 3 hours with only a couple of scares (said the traffic didn't get bad until the Southpoint Mall area which thankfully is near our house). I prayed hard that he'd make it home safe, and thank God he did.

First of all, I'm so glad you are safe and everything worked out for you! That must have been so scary, especially when you have kids and you don't know how long you may be, what will happen, etc. Yikes!

That is so scary! I am glad you made it home safe though! This weather is crazy! I live a few hours away from NC and we got about 15 inches here. Luckily I was home the entire time with my boys!
