Some changes I'm making in 2014

My goals for 2013 were to:

1.  Get our home sold

and

2. Have a baby.

Neither of these came even close to happening.

For a while, I was feeling kinda sorry for myself...(which is completely ridiculous, because I have close friends who have gone through extremely heartbreaking situations this year)....but then I realized that I needed to cut it out and focus on what I did wrong...and what I needed to do differently.

My 2 goals, although realistic, were not goals that I could completely control.

2013 was the year that I finally realized that things don't happen on my timing alone...that I needed to RELAX and just be.

This was the year that I fell (even more so) head over heels with these 2 sweethearts.

We've had the best time playing and learning together.  I've never done anything better in my whole life than be a mommy to these beautiful babies.

With that...I decided to make a few goals for 2014 that I could semi control, and that I could actually reach.

1.  Immerse myself in my talents.  (And use those for good.)
Actually take a dance class for myself, not just teach...and lots of other fun things.

2.  Collaborate more.
In the real world and in the blog world, and try to get beyond my "I can do it myself" attitude.

3.  Create and maintain a daily quiet-time schedule for myself.
No computer, no tv...just a set time to read, study, and grow spiritually.

4.  Start traditions.
For just the 4 of us.  Things that the boys will hopefully always remember and cherish.

And that's that!

4 goals that, if I work hard at them, are pretty do-able.

Happy 2014 my friends!!  Are you setting any goals this year?

Those do seem like good goals that can be realized. I like how succinct they are. I also hope positive things outside of your control happen too.

I like the traditions goal. You'll definitely have to post when you find good ones. I love figuring out what my little families traditions will be.

I also was thinking of only making 4 goals. I already have 3 in mind, but need to think of a 4th. After last year, I think it's better to keep it simple. :)

I think these are great and attainable goals! I love the idea of a daily quiet time. This is something I could definitely benefit from!

I am nodding my head in agreement like crazy at your Number 1. Which also happened to be my Number 1 for 2014! Let's do it. Also, Disney Disney Disney! Just saw your picture post and I think I'll go look at it again :)

Love your goals, they're controllable and will obviously have a positive impact! Sometimes it really is the little things that make the biggest difference

You're so right - things don't depend on our timing alone and sometimes we just have to let that control go. Happy 2014 to your family and may this year be the best yet

I had no idea you guys were trying for a baby last year. I have had several friends walk through it taking much longer than they hoped so I have a small idea of how hard it can be. I'm glad that you have picked goals that you can control a little more. This year looks like it will be a great one for you guys!

I think it's definitely better to set goals that you have at least some control over. It makes sense...and hopefully in the end, it makes them easier to accomplish. Happy New Year to you and your precious family!

I beat myself up over things that are completely out of my control too … the I can do it all attitude! Here's to being a better version of ourselves in 2014, and forgiving the slip ups :)

i hear you on the relaxing and letting things be. and those are definitely things you can't control and im' sorry they didn't happen. sometimes it's okay to be disappointed about things that are hard even though you know other people have it harder. but also recognizing that you have lots of blessings too. hoping we both learn to rest more this year!
