6 ways to Love life

Guy or girl, young or old, here are 6 ways to absolutely love the life you're living.

1.  Don't feel the need to be productive all the time.

Elder Richard G. Scott said, "Many voices from the world in which we live tells us we should live at a frantic pace.  There is always more to do and more to accomplish. Yet deep inside each of us is a need to have a place of refuge where peace and serenity prevail, a place where we can set, regroup, and reenergize to prepare for future pressures."  I'm guilty of this...always feeling the need to do at least 2 things at once.  I'm getting better at understanding the importance of finding a moment and a place of peace every day.

2.  Have a support system.

Establish good relationships with people that encourage you and support you.  Surround yourself with people who make you feel your best...your soul will be damaged if you're constantly with people who don't uplift you.

3.  Have a hobby.

I've had several conversations with people that, when asked what their hobbies are or what they enjoy doing, have said something along the lines of  "Oh, I'm just a mom or, I take my kids around.."..and I'm like excusemewhat? We all need to have a hobby that involves just us.  That's just for us.

4.  Exercise.

I don't know anyone who feels amazing after sitting on the couch, watching tv, and eating Cheetos all day.  I do know that I feel energized, happy, and motivated after I exercise...even if it's taking a walk around my neighborhood.

5.  Count your blessings.

Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in an "I wish I had that" attitude, which is so bad for your spirit.  When you're in a tough moment, think about everything you do have, and things will start turning around.

6.  Unplug.

Doesn't your life seem so much better when you're not comparing it to others?  People usually don't post pictures of their low moments, so it's easy to compare our normal to everyone's best.  I've found that I enjoy life so much more whenever I'm living it...playing with my boys, visiting fun places, reading a great book, talking face to face with a friend, etc.

I am my happiest when I am doing these 6 things.

What makes you love life?!

This is a really great list. I know that having supportive friends and getting exercise is key for me. I also have to try and not compare myself to others because it's easy to get down on yourself that way!

These are all on my list except for the first one. I hadn't thought about that, but it's so true! If I'm not being productive then I feel like I'm wasting time, but I probably should give myself more of a break sometimes. :) Thanks for this, Ashley!

I agree with everything on this list! If I were to add anything to the list, I would simply add "eat chocolate once a day... or twice or thrice a day if it makes you happy." :)

I agree with every single thing on this list!
I am especially guilty of trying to be too productive during the week. Luckily, on the weekends I give myself some slack!
Exercise is the best for feeling great. :)

I couldn't agree with this more. Unplugging is great for the soul, and definitely feeling great after exercise. I love that!

I love this list! I don't read blogs on the weekends as a way to unplug and focus on living life!

I agree with all of these! Especially the last one! I think unplugging is so necessary for my mental health sometimes!

This is such a great list! Some of my favorite {me time} hobbies are yoga, long walks, knitting, and reading. I'm not a huge gym person, but have found a combo of yoga and pilates to be the perfect way to both stay in shape and get some time to relax and unplug. I also like ending my days with a small glass of red wine {I go for the cheap Walgreens kind} :)

Great list! Right now, I particularly love the last one. I am so guilty of feeling envious and comparing my life to others. It's not right and it robs your joy BIG TIME! I plan on taking a social media break for about a week/week and a half around Christmas. I'm going to have Lee hide my computer and I'm going to remove social media apps from my phone. I'm going to be interested to see what I do with my time instead and how my thought process is.

This is a great list, Ashley! One is something I need to work on. Since I own my own business, I always feel very pressured to be productive and or accomplish this, this and this. That doesn't always happen and I'm pretty hard on myself about it. And as for two, you are spot on. I've definitely made the decision to only surround myself with people who are supportive and uplifting - especially the past couple of years. It's one of the best decisions I've made.

Hope you're doing well!

I agree with you all of these, especially unplugging. So important. Someone once said to me that we no longer have the right to be unreachable. I was like. No? I do?

I tend to be very happy when I know I'm being productive and getting things done that I want to accomplish, but I know that also needs to be balanced with rest and quality time spent with others! I think this is a great list!

These are all really good ones - hobbies are so important and it took me awhile to learn just HOW important they are to keep you balanced and learning

Great list Ashley! I do most of these but had to put a few on the back burner during this life season I'm in for a few more weeks, can't wait to get back at exercising and hobbying!

Merry Christmas!

This is a fantastic list! All of them are key to a happier life, though I still struggle with unplugging - I try not to be too attached to my phone, but I definitely feel a bit anxious when I don't have it with me to document things!
