Lesson on Fashion

Shirt: Old Navy (exact), Jeans: Old Navy (exact), Boots: ASOS (exact)

This past Saturday, I taught a class for a Stake Young Women Activity for church, on fashion and beauty.  The basis of my thoughts was that the better you feel about yourself, the more confidence you have, and with more confidence comes better actions.  (If you ever have to do the same type presentation, let me know, and I'll email you my power point presentation!)

I had such a great time!  We talked trends, do's and don'ts: do wear black and brown together (as shown above), don't wear leggings with short shirts, and all sorts of other fun things.

This (as I'm sure you've guessed) is what I wore for the presentation.  Pretty simple, pretty casual (per the dress requirements of the conference), and pretty classic.  Noel and the boys were my handy helpers getting the presentation set up and taken down!  (The babies got doughnuts from the meeting as well, which they thought was pretty cool.) :)

PS.  If you're looking for a great pair of skinny jeans, these are the ones to get.  Old Navy is rocking it out once again!

PPS. I asked a question on my Facebook yesterday (here), and would love your input and suggestions!

Sounds like a great meeting. There are many do's and don'ts in fashion that I think people don't realize! You look great and classic in your outfit and thanks for the tip on the skinny jeans.

You look amazing, Ashley! I love your boots. Are they comfortable? Your presentation sounds great. I see fashion the same way. Before I started blogging, it felt silly and vain to care about my clothes. But, now I see it as a confidence booster!

You look great and I love your hair! We had a similar conference as a stake Relief Society activity and it was a lot of fun. Plus it was fun to see the lds fashion bloggers that the lady used as examples.

I would've loved to have been there! And on the leggings thing... someone needs to open a tunic shop. You know, one that JUST sells leggings appropriate tops. I'd so be in.

Love this classic look! That is awesome that you taught a class about fashion. I couldn't agree more with you about if you feel better about yourself you have more confidence and you are more likely to succeed and challenge yourself! I think so many times people think fashion is frivolous but it is about feeling good about yourself!

What a great lesson for the girls! I bet you did awesome :) I remember looking up to fashionable leaders in my ward. I am sure you are that for those girls.

I need to get that from you. I need to do something similar for our girls. Some of them think that a skirt if it goes close to your knees when you are standing is ok. And boy howdy, it is not! I just want to do something that teaches them about how a lady dresses, and how what she wears conveys how she feels about herself to the world.
Thanks for sharing!

I am dying for a pair of black skinny jeans, but for some reason the rockstar jeans fit my body horribly. So sad, because that's the fun cute jeans at old navy.

Okay, so I have noticed a lot of light brown boots with black leggings. But can I wear dark brown boots with black leggings? I haven't seen anyone do that yet. Thoughts??
