Enjoying the Moment

(I have no pictures, but caught a video of Mister Charlie singing on of his favorites)

I am all for capturing moments...that's why I started this blog in the first place.  But this past week, I just sorta "enjoyed" the moment over capturing it.

Our town has a huge celebration on July 3rd, so after coming home from a friends' cookout, we let both boys stay up late, late, late to watch the fireworks.  And so awesome that we could see the fireworks perfectly from our back yard.

While we were watching the fireworks...Walker on my lap and Charlie on Noel's...it was one of those moments that I never want to forget.  The boys were in love with the fireworks, and sat perfectly still in our laps for over 20 minutes just taking it in.  Noel and I looked at each other and just smiled...so grateful for these boys of ours and for that sweet moment.  For a minute I wanted to jump up and grab my camera to take a picture, but decided to keep still and just enjoy it.

I hope you had a fantastic holiday last week!

Charlie is the CUTEST! Loved his song :) And that sounds like the perfect little family moment you all had while watching the fireworks!

Oh my goodness!! My heart just melted into a hundred pieces hearing him sing. So so sweet that he knows every single word :)

I was actually just talking to Wesley that we hardly ever take pictures... There had got to be a "happy medium" between the too right...enjoying the moment, but also remembering to record some too!

This is so sweet! I love Charlie's song... And completely agree that sometimes you should just live in the moment and enjoy it... And now that you have your blog to look back on and read, you won't ever have to forget the visual picture :)

Sometimes it's nicer to just take a mental picture and take it all in :)

Sometimes you just have to savor the moment rather than capture it, it's a tough balance. It sounds like you had such a happy wonderful weekend!

I always have such an internal struggle on whether I should just sit still and enjoy the moment, or capture it and get to re-live it over and over again! It usually goes about 50-50 - happy that you had a great celebration with the fam!

That does sound like a precious moment. Sometimes it is so much better to savor the moment than to capture it!

That is totally precious!! What a sweet little man. And I agree with you about not taking a picture--sometimes it's better to just savor the moment!

Such a great post! I love pictures, but I often think that I miss some moments because I'm too busy trying to take pictures of the moment. On the other hand, I love having those pictures to look back on and relive the moment.

so true about the pictures! the best moments are the ones that maybe don't need the pictures :) p.s.-- does charlie want to start doing a weekly singing video on the blog? because that made my day! precious.

i definitely tend to enjoy moments instead of capturing, im normally too into the moment to realize it.

Oh my goodness!! He's following along... haha Love it! I must tell you too that as soon as I started playing the video my two kids came running over to watch. They both watched very intently... my two year old boy grinning the entire time. It was rather adorable how drawn to it he was haha

I get caught up in that battle all the time. At the fireworks this year, I went to the other side of the car with my camera to get a better angle, and ended up missing some of the initial joy my daughter expressed in seeing her first ever fireworks show. My husband gave me a much-needed reality check to come back to them and enjoy it as a family.

I do love that I have pictures of these moments to look back on later to remember (for both me and the kids), but there's nothing quite like experiencing it in the moment. It's a delicate balance.

So fun they both like the fireworks so much. Those little moments I too often want to document but sometimes it is best just to enjoy them and be there

Your boys are so well behaved. I've heard horror stories about kids and fireworks and being scared of loud noises or not being able to stay up that late to watch them
