Trip to DC

^Noel is corrupting my child by trying to make him a Wolfpack fan.^

Noel and I celebrated 6 years of marriage last Saturday, June 1, and decided to celebrate by taking a trip with the babes to DC.  We always like to take a trip for our anniversary instead of exchanging gifts. You can see last year's trip here.

Charlie and Walker would've been perfectly fine with just riding all the public transportation.  Ohhh how they loved it.  And our room looked out on the train, the airport, and boats.  I mean???!

We did all the touristy things, like The White House and the Zoo.  And I guess Georgetown Cupcakes is considered to be a touristy place.  The cupcakes were really tasty, but I have to say I like Gigi's better (mainly because they're twice the size of a Georgetown Cupcake!).  Our favorite part about the zoo was definitely the monkeys, but on the way out, in the 95 degrees, our stroller tire popped.  Nightmareeeee. Thankfully there was a bike shop near our hotel, and they fixed it up super quick.  We were also able to visit the Washington, D.C. Temple and visitors' center, which is, of course, beautiful!

I'm so glad we were able to travel for our anniversary; it was nice getting away as a family. It was also nice staying a little outside of the city so we could walk around later in the evening without all the crowds.

Any recommendations on places for next year's trip?!
Happy Friday!! I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

I want to go to DC one day! Greg has been a couple of times with a history buff friend but I've never gotten to go. And I love that you take a trip every year... I hope we can keep that up with kids, too. Is it weird that every time I see your boys together I start dreaming of needing a double stroller already? ;)

I've never been there. It's kinda far away though. ONE day I will make it there. I'm going to agree with Katie on the cruise thing. I'm ready to book my next one in 2015.

I was in DC for Memorial Day weekend! We just missed each other! And Georgetown Cupcakes are so yummy but the shop is so small! I've been to a few of their other locations and they're just as small. You think that with all their success, they could at least add a few more tables and chairs

I think georgetown cupcakes are overrated as well.

I hear Savannah, GA is gorgeous...

We always go up to Park City to the fancy lodge we stayed on our wedding night, but I really like your idea of going someplace new every year. So...you should probably come to Utah. Happy Anniversary!

It looks like y'all had a wonderful trip!!!!

I KNOW I'll have to try the cupcakes when we end up back in DC...but if they're smaller than what I'm expecting, I'm sure I'll be bummed. ha!

Looks like a great time. Have you ever been to sugarland cupcakes? The original is in Chapel Hill but they just opened one in Cameron Village. They are ridiculously good.

So cool that you visited DC for your little family getaway! I live about 15 miles from DC myself, and it's a fun day trip whenever I can get a metro ticket! Georgetown Cupcakes is a hoot, and there are TONS of great restaurants in Georgetown. :)

Such amazing photos, the boys look like they truly enjoyed themselves!

We just celebrated our anniversary as well (June 2nd) and I must say I like your idea of traveling. I think I'll be putting that to use going forward! I think a trip to the Biltmore Estate would be nice! I've always wanted to go there and had dreams of being married there once upon a time :)!
