Staycation

Noel and I were long overdue for a vacation.  We've been trying to find the time, money, etc....but it's just so hard!  So we decided to vacation in our own city for a little "staycation", and my sister, Jessica came to stay with the boys.  (What would I do without her?!) We had so.much.fun.

On Friday night we went shopping with our gift cards from Christmas...Christmas!!...ate a yummy dinner, and then picked up (my fave) Phish Food before heading back to the hotel.  Can we talk about how awesome the Renaissance in North Hills is?  The third picture?  That's me...in the bathroom...watching the tv that is IN the mirror.  And yes, I watched Bride Day Friday on TLC while I took the longest shower of my entire life.

My one requirement for this staycation was that I got to sleep in.  Even though I woke up at 645am (boo), I went right back to sleep until 9.   The last picture, although without makeup, is me...fully refreshed, ready to see my babies, and ready to watch Conference.

Have you vacationed your own city lately?

I hope you all had a great weekend!

A mirror with a TV in it?! Yes, Please! We are big fans of "staycations", there is a hotel we like about 45 minutes away in a cute little town. Far enough to be 'away' but not so far that we have to make a huge trip out of it :) Looks like you had a wonderfully relaxing time!

That is such a great idea! I'm sure you needed the break, glad you had a great time. Oh and if I had a tv in the bathroom mirror, I would have just sat down in the shower. just sayin'

How awesome! The Renaissance sounds so, so nice. My brother and his wife stayed there for their honeymoon night, and they said it was wonderful! Staycations are aaawesome. I'll actually be taking a week off work to stay at the house by myself! The kids will get taken to daycare/school, and I will stay at the house in the peace and quiet. I can't wait!

Super cool! And what a nice bathroom! I am a hotel bathroom snob--nothing worse than a fancy room with a funky bathroom! ;)

that sounds absolutely perfect!! I think I need to schedule one of those.

I LOVE staycations! What a great way to reenergize. We have never stayed at a hotel in ATL, but we do occasionally try to make it to new things! We live less than 10 miles from Stone Mountain and have never been to the laser show! We have climbed it, played at the playgrounds and such but never stayed. I can hear the fireworks all summer from our backyard. In other words I think we need to do that staycation soon. :)

That sounds like it had to be just a wonderful idea! Looks like a great vacation! Kevin and I are planning on having a staycation this year instead of a vacation, with a baby on the way and everything...

Such a great idea! Glad you were able to have some time away and get some much needed sleep! I'll have to remember the staycation idea for after the baby comes and I need a break/rest :)

Good idea for some relaxing time with your husband :)

No make-up and you are still stunning!! So glad you are refreshed.
Little getaways are always the best. Quality time with your husband is a MUST!
My husband and I try to do that at least once every couple of months.

Staycations are the best! Me, my mom, and my sisters usually will take one spontaneously and stay in a nice hotel downtown and go explore the more "touristy" parts of the city that we don't get to see too often. I hope you had an amazing weekend (it definitely looks like it was great)!

I've done some staycations in nearby towns and it's amazing! Just being away from work, stress, and all that stuff is so nice. Plus, there's something relaxing about staying at a hotel I think!

I seriously need some sort of vacation. I don't care if we hole up in a hotel in town just want to get out of the house!

Amy Shaughnessy said...

I have the hardest time sleeping in. Must be because I'm so used to the kiddos waking me up early every morning. I think my hubby and I are going to take a mini-vacation soon. It's just good to get away with not a care in the world!

I love the Renaissance Hotel! We stayed there the night that we got married and it was absolutely amazing!!!

We usually do at least one staycation / year...I think it's time we I get to planning!

I'd love to go on a vacation but it will have to wait for awhile. That makes me love the idea of a staycation even more. I'm sure there is so much to see if you plan it, too! :)

What a fun idea! We haven't done this, but we would like to get a hotel room in one of the cities where we are usually obligated to stay with family. Not to sound cruel, but sometimes it is more fun to stay in a hotel and not feel obligated to follow your relatives' rules, schedule, etc.

Head to Toe Chic said...

Isn't that hotel the best?! We stayed there on our wedding night and the TV in the mirror is the coolest thing ever. Did you have breakfast there in the morning? It's the best in Raleigh. I'm glad you guys had fun!!

We did a staycation a few years ago, where we stayed at a b&b and I went snowboarding for the first time. Sometimes they're just what you need to feel refreshed! I'm glad that you guys had a good one.

I have never done a staycation but I think it's an awesome idea. It's just nice to recharge once in a while! I can't believe the mirror had a TV.

Oh how I love the staycations :) We did one over Valentines and it was pretty darn great! And because you wouldn't let us comment on those fabulous grey bedrooms above, I will tell you here how amazing that first pic is.

That's all :)
