Top: Old Navy, Skirt: Gap Outlet, Boots: Cousin Couture
In middle school, my friend Kristin and I used to wear white jean shorts (rolled up), our shirt in a clip (like this), and our hair in a side pony tail for "Twin Day"...which often times turned into "every day". What I wouldn't give to get my hands on those pictures.
I never thought the day would come when I would actually tie up my shirt again. But I did it...and I like it! :-) I will have to pass on those white jean shorts I saw the other day in a store...(not calling out any names or anything....Old Navy).

I love your skirt! And I did the same thing with my shirts when I was a kid. It's. crazy that you posted this today because I JUST tied my chambray shirt over a dress this week and my husband was very skeptical but I assured him it was okay.... I wish I could have shown him your outfit first for proof :)
I totally used to wear my hair like that (it may or may not have been with a butterfly clip, yikes), rock the side pony, and roll up my shorts (as if they weren't short enough! lol) The tie shirt is totally coming back! So cute!!
You look gorgeous :-)!
Thanks for linking up doll!
I was born in 1988, so I was 11 years old at the end of the '90s...I was jealous of older girls wearing those short t-shirts that show your stomach. I also liked the clothes from Delia's catalogs, and the mini backpacks that a lot of girls were using instead of purses.
SO cute! I totally remember those shirt clips...they were awesome :) Love that skirt, and love the shirt tied up!

Haha, I definitely remember those shirt clips. Love this outfit on you, and the tied top looks adorable :)
this outfit is adorable! one of my favorites for sure! You are so cute!
This outfit is so cute! I used to love to tie up my shirt as well!
I loved wearing the spandex with the lace tutus over them. I was always a big fan of overalls. I had them in every style and color. I loved wearing the glittered designed headbands and jelly shoes were my fav.
Oh the good old days!
Your skirt is so pretty! I think it's funny how so many 90s trends are now "in"...denim jackets/vests, keds, etc.

Haha twin day! I love it! I used to have shirt clips too! Who knew that knotting would be in style again?! Love your outfit! I actually wore something very similar to this last weekend!!!
i love a tied up shirt! i love how it's coming back, you styled it perfectly!
Ummm tied up shirts are where its at, even though I don't have the guts to do it. Also, you should youtube how to tie up a maxi skirt, SO cute!!
I have to say, I might own two pairs of white shorts....
Haha funny how styles circulate back in! Love the rainy day outfit!
I've definitely noticed 90s fashion trends coming back! florescent anyone?
I am a little older than you, so I was a teen in the middle of the grunge years. I think that I had a flannel shirt for every day of the week! But I was too preppy to go totally grunge. I used to iron my flannel--and my jeans. Ha!
overalls & mini backpacks :X [i was soooo cool]
love your look!

Saw your pic of FB first and was thinking I had to get over here to tell you how perfect that outfit is!! Love it!!
I'm thinking the high pants and tucked in shirt... Not sure if I can do it but the style is coming back!:)
Love the skirt! You're such a trooper taking photos in the rain- even with an umbrella!
I totally tied my shirt on the side and sported some bike shorts with it. The bike shorts were striped on one leg and polka dots on the other. Ha ha. Love this skirt! And I love how you tied the shirt. Cute and so not even 90s looking.

I love the side knot! Totally stealing this:) and I almost bought that exact skirt (yay gap outlet) but they only gave xsmalls:(
Oh the 90s... haha! I definitely did the shirt knot all the time!
Ashley, hi! I have missed you so, sob sob sob! hahahaha. You are so fun. Don't ya think someone should have a blog titled: The Polka Dot Spot. Would that be a cool blog name or what?
Twin day was the BEST! Love this outfit! I actually just styled an outfit very similar to this, only I had a dress with the chambray. Great minds think alike!
Haha twin days were awesome! So funny how now dressing similar to someone else is a huge fax-pas! I love the rolled up shirt - I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to give it a shot at some point this summer!
What a cute skirt! That print is pretty great.

It's funny to see fashion come around. Oh man, I didn't own white jean shorts, but I sure did own a pair of cream short alls, which is pretty much equally horrible. On the non horrible end of fashion, I adore your skirt.
Haha. Oh, the fashion from when we were young. It's crazy how much of it is coming back into style a little bit updated.
Hey there, stopping by from Adrienne's linkup. I am LOVING this look! I still have not purchased a denim/chambray top and I so need to.
Ha, throwback is always fun :) You look great in this outfit - I'm digging that skirt! And your hair is adorable right now :)
i love the print on your skirt! and so great how you paired it with chambray!

That's such a gorgeous skirt! I especially love the pattern :) What a chic wear for a rainy day! haha
If you have a sec, I would love to hear your thoughts on my latest: http://fashchronicles.blogspot.com/2013/04/think-green.html
I love this look! I think the tied up shirt looks really cute with a skirt. What's funny a lot stuff I wore in the 90's as a kid is marking a comeback. I had a few floral pair off pants! :)
How cute are you and that umbrella!?! I love the tied up look....it gives a waist where there sometimes might not be. I think I wore the heck out of my Doc Martins (both boots and sandals) in the 90's....they're just plain hideous. And heavy!
i LOVE that skirt, ashley!!! and oh girl - you need one of those like hoop things that you can tie your shirt through. remember those???
You are so darn cuticle! You don't even want to know my 90's fashion. Did you ever come across the post with my big silver Texas State earrings. Oh...it was pretty!

I love tying a button-down shirt--how can that ever go out of fashion when it always helps the shirt fit your shape better!
I almost bought a tie shirt from Target the other day- so funny the things that come back.
I was a big fan of jean jackets and parachute pants. :)
