I attended a blog conference in Salt Lake this past weekend. It was so strange and so sad being away from the boys for a couple of days, but I know they loved spending all that time with daddy.
I am the #1 worst flyer. I hate it. I find everyone in the airport to be suspicious, and I make sure to look them all in the eyes, so they know that I'm on to them.
I did, however, have a few good experiences with this whole airport thing that made me feel like I was totally winning.
*I had a connecting flight in Atlanta on my way to SLC. If you've ever been to the ATL airport, you know it's nuts. My layover was only 45 minutes, my first flight was delayed 45 minutes, AND I was in the next to the last row on the plane. The odds were not in my favor to make this flight. As soon as the plane landed, Noel texted me with my gate information (that he found on his handy Delta App) so so I wouldn't have to waste any time looking at the screen. I Home Aloned all over it when I got out of the plane, and realized I was only 3 gates down from where I needed to be. They were boarding and I walked right on. I was crying...I was that excited and grateful to have made my flight.
*On the flight home, I was stuck in the middle seat. The MIDDLE seat for over 3 hours. The lady on the aisle was already seated, but the person with the window seat was not. I kept crossing my fingers that he wouldn't show up, but of course he did. The lady with the aisle seat asked if we could all just scoot over so she wouldn't have to get up, and he said sure. Window seat for me!!!
*The movie on the flight home was Pitch Perfect. I could just stop there. But while they were showing the preview for the movie, a girl a few rows behind me was laughing hysterically, and afterwards let out a "woohoo!" for the movie. I turned around to make eye contact with her, and gave her the approving head nod. Little does she know that we are now BFFLs, Best Friends For Life (pronounced biffles).
I'll share a little more about the conference later this week.
Did you have a great weekend? Do anything fun?!
(Please tell me that someone saw Safe Haven...I'm seeing it this week and can't wait!)

Oh no - your flying experience sounds awful! Hopefully the conference was worth it :) Love your fabulous red bag...and I thought Pitch Perfect was actually pretty funny!

flying is terrible. I feel the same way! But at least you made a new biffle (whether she knows it or not) and got to watch per perfect! haha
I hate flying too and haven't done it for like 14 years! Gald you had some good experiences though. Look forward to hearing more about the conference, I would love to go to one one day.
I hate terrible flight days, they are the worst!

I looove flying, needless to say when you come to Cincy it sounds like you might be taking a roadtrip instead ;)
Cannot believe that Pitch Perfect was on, omg! FAV!
The worst part about flying for me is the take off and the landing. I cling to that chair for dear life.
So glad your gates where close. I have never had a gate that close before. Always have to high-tail it to the opposite side of the airport.
Love what you took as your carry on! Water, treats and a book are a must!
I don't like flying either but I'm trying to learn to love it because, well, it's the only way back 'home'. My travel bag looks the can't travel without those essentials!
And I'm so jealous, Salt Lake has all of the fun with bloggers :)
I still haven't seen Pitch Perfect, but have heard over and over again that I need to. I hate flying too...minus the part where I get a window seat and just watch the clouds. That part I love!
I am absolutely terrified of flying! I used to be able to do it with no problem whatsoever, but one experience left me with an inability to fly ever again. D: However, when I did fly, the window seat was always my favorite. :)
I love your travel bag and everything in it! So cute!
I hate flying too..it gives me major anxiety. I actually don't like to sit by the window, makes me kinda dizzy to look outside. Can't wait to hear more about the conference!

This is hilarious. I'm glad someone else is suspicious of everyone in the airport!
I always hope that the people in the seats next to me don't show up...it never happens...they always show up!! boo!! haha...i love when they show good movies, but at the same time I dislike it because I want to catch up on my reading hahaha

Oh ATL Int'l. My husband always has the worst luck there. In fact, if we are flying separately (like if I am tagging along on a business trip and he is flying on the gov't dime), he will always get stuck there while my flight will be right on time!
We did the Home Alone run there when we were coming home from Disney--but I was holding a toddler and six months pregnant!
I want to hear all about the conference! What conference was it and what did you learn?!
The ATL airport is the WORST. We've had to stay overnight there before because we missed our flight because of Delta. Boo.
Glad you had a great time and can't wait to hear about the conference!!
Oh dang I live here and I didn't even know there was a blog conference. I hope the conference was good. I usually enjoy flying, especially when you get your own screen and all the new-ish movies you didn't want to pay to see, and they're edited! I hope our weather wasn't too bad for you.
I love everything about this post! I especially love your comments about being suspicious of everyone at the airport. I feel the exact same way. I'm even sometimes suspicious of people who WORK at the airport. That's how they let their friends in, but thanks to your "eye contact" advice, they'll be sure to not mess with either of us. Glad you had a good trip!
I am so anxious to hear all about the blogger conference!
I saw Safe Haven last night and hated it! I liked the movie until the last 5 minutes. Maybe it is just me... but I was not a fan.

I just had my first flight in November. While I did not get a middle seat (thank goodness!) I did get really sick. I get carsick too, and this was just a more intense sickness than I get in the car. My husband was planning on taking me somewhere special for our 10 year anniversary in May. I had to beg him not to plan anything that required me to get on a plane lol.
Sounds like quite the adventure! Love your red bag! Perfect for all the essentials!

Glad you got the window seat by chance! I'm sure that was a relief! And I'm glad you got to see Pitch Perfect on the flight! Hilarious!
You know I love Pitch Perfect! I've flown quite a few times in the last month and every flight was showing Pitch Perfect. I was in heaven!
I'm an absolutely terrible flyer as well - I think it's the most unpleasant uncomfortable experience (second to the dentist appt). Can't wait to hear about the conference
Oh no - the airport stress, the reason why I will drive ANYWHERE if it is less than 10 hours just to avoid flying! Can't wait to hear more about your conference lady!

Here&Now
Sweetheart, I am so sorry you hate airports, but you're right about Atlanta. It's like a circus on Thanksgiving Day at the shopping mall. Don't worry, it's insanely crazy every day! I've always loved to fly, but since returning from Israel (a 14 hour flight from Tel Aviv or Newark, NJ), I feel like becoming a kicka$$ flight attendant and incorporate acts from the movie Bridesmaids. BAHAHA!!!! I still have a paper planner too. In fact, I have two of them. One for personal things and another for blogging. I have to write things down to stay organized. Your packing list is great and very helpful for anybody taking to the skies. GO ASHLEY!
Big hugs to you, friend.

Yay! I can't wait to hear about the blog conference. I was supposed to go, but had to give my ticket up since we are going out west in a few months. I love all your flying essentials. It's a whole new story when traveling with the kiddos, isn't it. :) Hope you are having a great week so far!
Oh I am so jealous you got to a blog conference! And btw next time make your layover longer! I am only 20 min from the ATL airport (without traffic of course). I have so many paper planners as I just can't to the online/phone ones. There is something about pen and paper that I just love. I hope you had a great time!

Oh dear, glad you had a few essentials with you to make it a bit more swift! Pitch Perfect is HILARIOUS - and I saw Safe Haven this weekend. It's really good, but very dramatic and slightly scary at times!
I love flying! I wanted to be a flight attendant growing up! Your bag looks a lot like mine and I hate the ATL airport as well!!!!
i absolutely hate flying! i always get so sick which isn't fun at all. i definitely agree with your essentials and I can't wait to hear all about the conference!!
xo,
Angela
Pitch Perfect is the most perfect movie. My husband even loves it so much he suggests we watch it.
Oh girl, I hate flying so much. My last job, I was on an airplane every other week, still didn't make it any easier or better. Let me tell you my first business trip after going back to work 2 years ago I had to connect through Atlanta (as always with Delta in our neck of the woods) and on my return trip, it was late, we ran into Summer storms, flight delays and delays and ultimately a cancellation while we were on the plane in a storm at the gate at 2am. We got off the plane and I had to sleep at Hartsfield. Sleep in the darn Atlanta crappo airport. And by "sleep" I mean doze for like an hour. I finally got home at noon the next day and passed out. Awful! So yes, flying and the Atlanta airport are the pits! Can't wait to hear more about the conference!
I hate traveling and flying. I get MAJOR anxiety!!! I think everyone is a terrorist...I know...that's so bad. And a blog conference?! What? I can't wait to hear all about it!!
Travelling by plane is definitely an art! Me and my parents lived abroad for six years and going back and for to the US for winter and summer holidays, and it took us awhile to get a good system going with all the lay overs.
And I can't believe Pitch Perfect was the fim on the plane! I feel like every time I travel, the planes always have terrible movies that I never even heard of. But watching Pitch Perfect would definitely make a flight a million times better!

ooh I love seeing what people pack for holidays- Love your bag!! The perfect colour!

Oh, I am complete opposite, I love to fly, I love airports, I could live there :D
OMG the Atlanta airport kills me. I used to live in Atlanta and would have to fly out of that airport once a month. It was horrendous!
Ugh I HATE flying – it's such a slog! Pretty difficult since I love to travel though.

I can't wait to read Remember Me. I have had Can You Keep A Secret sitting on my desk for SO long, just begging me to start reading
Glad you made your connecting flight! I always try and get direct flights if possible for that very reason the whole missing my plane thing makes me totally nervous.
Love Pitch Perfect.
