Welcome 2013!!

I adore this quote, so I had to make it all cute-like.  So true, isn't it?!  And perfect timing for some New Year's goals.  I am a firm believer that goals can be made daily, and they should be...but the first of the year is an especially great time to reflect on things we need to work on.  Here are a few of my goals for 2013.

  • Eat healthier.  (On everyone's list, right?)  But really...the amount of chocolate I consume on a daily basis is completely irresponsible.
  • More quality family time.  Noel travels a lot for work, so we really need to utilize all the family time we can get.  We have our Family Home Evening every Monday night, but that literally lasts for about 5 minutes.  We need to come up with a game plan.
  • Monthly dates with my little man, Charlie.  Sticking with the spending quality time theme.  Walker and I go to a gym class together once a week while Charlie is in preschool, so I want to do a better job on one-on-one Mother/Son time with my Charlie.
  • Attend a new class.  Maybe a ballet class, maybe a photography class, just something to keep my creativity/motivation up.
  • Find a really great book series.  I'm still having Harry Potter withdrawal.  This quote explains my feelings perfectly.  Any suggestions?
  • Live a more service-oriented life.....and try to instill this trait in my boys.

What is one of your big goals for 2013?  Any advice to help me out with mine?

Linking up with Helene today.

Irresponsible amounts of chocolate. :-)
I'm trying to get back on the health wagon. Kicking off a "Bringing Sexy Back" series on my blog.
Maybe I can hold myself out to public embarrassment as inspiration.

So I heard the other day that our bodies crave things that we put in them...so if we can eat healthier for a few weeks, our bodies start craving that instead. 2 years of nursing school and I just found that out! I've been looking at the Cary Arts Center for a good class to go to - they actually look like they have great ones for kids too! You should check it out!! And let me know what book series you end up loving, I am looking too. I do recommend Divergent. It is really, really good. It is a dystopia, like Hunger Games. The down side is that there are only 2 with one more on the way...short series.

Great goals!

I found a series that I got hooked on pretty quickly called the Gone series by Michael Grant. There's 6 books in the series and the last one hasn't come out yet. It's kind of sci-fi (but not too weird) kind of dystopian novel. It's a YA book about a town where all of the adults (anyone over 14) disappear one day and some of the kids have developed powers and it's about how they survive in a literal bubble with no adults and no connection to the outside world. It definitely had me thinking about right and wrong and what a world with no rules would be like.

these are all truly wonderful. And I think that is because they are not so specific but a more broad idea of just the right way to live!

What terrific goals. I always tried to have dates with my niece Nadia because she is too cool but because you know they are important. As for books: You need to get on Goodreads.com girl! I would recommend:

-Hunger Games Series
-Eve Series
-Divergent Series
-Incarnate Series

And believe me I could list off books all day that I think people should read. My main thing is to type in my favorite book on amazon and see what they suggest and then get them through the library that way if you hated the book you didn't just waste money on it. It involves patience but is rewarding.
I made a review/goals post though I wasn't going to at first and I felt a lot better about 2012 after it was on the page.

Happy New Year!

I am reading the "Wildflowers" series by V.C. Andrews. They are from the '90s, though, so you might have to buy them as e-books (they're on BarnesAndNoble.com) unless you have some good used paperback stores near you. They're about a group of four girls who have are seeing one therapist. Each book explains why that girl is there.

i love that quote... so true! you have set some great goals for yourself, and all i can say is something i tell myself all the time... take it one day at a time, one week at a time and one month at a time. i find that smaller goals help make the big goals easier to achieve. good luck, lady!

I LOVE your boys' names! Great goal about more mom/ kid time. I don't feel like I make one on one time. For your next book series, I just started the Outlander Series. It's a little slow to start, but everyone recommends it and tells me to give a good try! My hubs is reading the Divergent series and says it's great!

Happy new year, thanks for stopping by my blog, I am so glad you did!!

Ashley! These look like super goals. My goal is to keep my camera and my computer in one piece. hahahaha.

I think I just may have to join the meme you have today, next week. I usually don't post on Tuesdays, but hey there is always a time to start, huh?

I won't say that this series is ANYTHING like Harry Potter (oh, HP. Love of my life!) but if you haven't already read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, I'd highly recommend it! Just not at night or if you're alone, if, like me, you're easily scared ;) It's an engrossing series, though no where near as long as Harry Potter.

I love your resolutions, but I don't think I can get behind eating less junk food. At least before my metabolism puts up a fight, haha ;) Happy 2013!

I just found your blog and I have to say, we should be bff blogger friends. I, too, consume unhealthy amounts of not only chocolate, but nutella, bread, and cookie dough daily!! It's bad.

Glad I'm kicking the new year off right by now following along on your fab blog!

Eating healthy (and drinking more water) somehow makes it to my list every year. I really like your last resolution as well - this sounds terrible but I have to try harder to think of others

Oh I bet you I could challenge you on the amount of chocolate consumed. haha I think I have some sort of world record! Why give it up though?!? Gotta have something!

Great goals! When Lucas was 3 1/2 he and I started having weekly "Dates" while a friend watched Alex. His behavior was getting crazy and just indicated he really needed it- it was the best thing.
