One of my favorite places to take the boys is the Art Museum. We get to make a fun project, look at beautiful pieces of art, and play outside on the gorgeous grounds. Now here's where the arts' advocate comes out. One thing that is absolutely non debatable when it comes to parenting is the importance of exposing your kids to the arts on a regular basis. Dance, Music, Theater, Visual Arts, whatever! Being involved with the arts boosts self esteem and can completely change your life for the better.
Are you involved in the arts in some way?

What a wonderful time with your boys! It's awesome how you are getting them involved in the different arts! I 100% agree... My husband plays MANY instruments and I play cello- it's such a wonderful outlet! (LOVE those pictures of his little vest... what a cutie!)
Agreed. I'm a piano girl.......the mister is in the Army band and still plays saxophone!
how fun!! I will have to do things like that with my kids!
Beautiful post! We attempt to do the same with our girls, primarily with theater. My husband took my daughter to the Little Mermaid recently... makes my heart melt! I love that she is old enough to enjoy going.
So cute! I wish we had one of those around here! Our children's museum is just okay. Enjoy your week!
They look like they're having a fabulous time. There's no getting me away from visiting museums every time I go to a new city - I think it's something my parents stressed in me when I was little. Of course, when I was little that meant running through galleries and trying not to get caught by the docents and security guards
Look at you rockin that purple maxi skirt! LOVE! and you KNOW I am obsessing over your yellow headband ;) could you be any cuter?
Arts are seriously important, so glad your babies have you as a momma to teach them life's best lessons :-)
I completely agree and I love having the art museum so close!! I think it is so great that they have those activities for the kids there - never to young to love the arts.
That is so nice your able to do that with your boys! Sounds like they'll be well-rounded individuals!
The only arts I'm involved in currently is playing piano! Hopefully if I teach again, I can get involved more!
They look like you're having a blast! I think it's wonderful that you're getting them involved in the arts at a young age!

Looks like you had a great time. Sadly I'm not involved much in the arts anymore, unless dancing in my room or singing in the shower count. But growing up I did participate on school plays and even gave it a go at singing. Those were really great experiences.
Sounds like an amazing place! I'm with you on the arts. I work at a museum so my 10 year is used to visiting museums wherever we go. I play violin, which she learns, my dad plays guitar and teachers her (so do both Dave's dad and brother) and she is a dancer. My parents brought both myself and my sister (who has a degree in musical theatre) up with the arts and I am so grateful to them for it. No child of mine was going to be brought up any different!!
Your boys are so precious! You know, there aren't really any great art places to go where I live. So, we have to find one every time we travel!
I completely agree, Ashley! My parents always stressed the importance of the arts (my dad was an artist, after all) so I took ballet, pottery classes, violin, writing workshops, etc. My kids will be exposed to as much as they can handle (whenever they pop into existence, that is :) You're doing your boys such a favor! xoxo
i completely agree.
my parents always shunned me away from the arts, now it makes me really sad.
its so important in our lives.
these pictures are adorable just btws.

Adorable! You make me want kids of my own.. like now! Although I'm definitely not ready in any way, shape or form :P
so glad you are raising those boys with exposure to the arts! it really did change my life for the better and i love spreading the joy to others as well. arts for everyone!
also, you are making me want to put my maxi skirt on right now! i even went back to read your post about styling them in the winter ;)
couldn't agree more about getting kids involved in the arts!! what a great mom.
I think getting kids involved in art early is very important. I've always been crafty and have involved my girls as much as possible as early as I can. Now, sometimes THEIR creativity really impresses me.
Your photos are adorable :)
You are such a good mom! Looks like they had a blast. And can I just say, I love how you dress your little boys. They always look clean, cute and put together, but still like little boys.
Yes, definitely a big arts advocate myself! The Washington Post came out with this article recently and I've been sending it to all my friends who teach dance. Definitely supports the idea of why the Arts are essential to a child's development.

How much fun! I wish I had something like that nearby to take my little one. I am a huge art lover and love to admire and make art. These days I haven't found much time for it... But it's one of my goals for this year!
I agree! My kids are at their calmest when they are coloring or doing a craft project. It's therapeutic...heck I even like coloring! ;) Those babies get cuter by the day!!!
This is a great idea! Have you (I'm sure you have) taken them to Marbles? Play date?!
xx
I am obsessed with the arts! I was in advanced art courses in High School at Ben Davis and was accepted to Purdue Universities Fashion Design school but I had to change due to $$$ and now I don't create really which is sad. I do however frequent the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA) which is just around the corner from my house. The guys look like they are having a blast! You are such a great mom!

I completely agree with you that the arts are so so important! I always felt that it's a lot easier to express your emotions and opinions through different forms of art. I once heard a quote that said "Dance is therapy for the soul" and its not just true for dance but all art forms as well!

I definitely agree with you! Whenever we have children I'll definitely be exposing them to art. I absolutely love dance, music, and theater. I definitely miss dancing sometimes,

I love the arts! it is all so inspiring. i have yet to attend a musical but looking to do so this year. my kids love art class and i'm hoping it will stick with them.
this is so great. i've always thought that exposing kids to the arts was one of the most important things. that day looks like so much fun!
First, taking them to the art museum, fabulous. Second, doing their craft days so they have to do clean up, great. This, I totally agree with you! I wish I had been exposed to art more when I was a kid.
Looks like such a great museum! We had a kids art museum in Mesa that we always used to go to-the kids loved it.
