A few weeks ago I was in an office and the receptionist was crazy rude. Like, one of the meanest ladies I've ever met. I was ready to get the heck out of there, when I saw a sign on her desk that said "Kindness is Contagious". It was too much for me to handle. Way to practice what you preach. She answered a call while she was checking me out and I heard her say with a tear in her eye, "Thank you so much for your condolences." Oh. I immediately felt awful for having terrible thoughts about her.
I've also been on the other end of this type of situation. I was at a meeting, with freshly painted nails, and a lady made a comment about how she only wished she had enough time to paint her nails because she had just recently had a baby and didn't have time for anything else. Weird comment in the first place, but little did she know that I had just been on bed rest from a miscarriage gone all kinds of wrong, and how I only wished I didn't have "enough time" to paint my nails. I wanted so badly to be in her position.
Anyways...the point is, you never know what's going on with people. So maybe we can be careful with our words....and our thoughts.
