You Never Know....

Blazer: Lauren Conrad from Kohl's,   Jeans: Gap,   Shoes and Necklace: Cousin Couture
A few weeks ago I was in an office and the receptionist was crazy rude.  Like, one of the meanest ladies I've ever met.  I was ready to get the heck out of there, when I saw a sign on her desk that said "Kindness is Contagious".  It was too much for me to handle.  Way to practice what you preach.  She answered a call while she was checking me out and I heard her say with a tear in her eye, "Thank you so much for your condolences."  Oh.  I immediately felt awful for having terrible thoughts about her.

I've also been on the other end of this type of situation.  I was at a meeting, with freshly painted nails, and a lady made a comment about how she only wished she had enough time to paint her nails because she had just recently had a baby and didn't have time for anything else.  Weird comment in the first place, but little did she know that I had just been on bed rest from a miscarriage gone all kinds of wrong, and how I only wished I didn't have "enough time" to paint my nails.  I wanted so badly to be in her position.

Anyways...the point is, you never know what's going on with people.  So maybe we can be careful with our words....and our thoughts.

So true, and so good to be reminded about this kind of thing (which I was actually just thinking about the other day). Thanks for this. xo.

"Kindness is Contagious"... This is true only if we use it. We must plant the seeds of 'peace' to be passed onto others. The bible even says so, James 3:13-18.

Beautifully written - we never really know the stories of other people and judge too quickly.
The necklaces goes great with this outfit!

This is definitely something I need to keep in mind more often. It's so easy to pass judgement on a person in a fleeting moment, and that moment doesn't even scratch the surface. Thanks for the reminder!

So true...the older I get the less "judgmental" I've become because I always try to remind myself that you don't know what that person's situation is

I worked in customer service for a few years, and sometimes people were just straight up mean. I would get upset, because I had been as nice as I could to them, but my Daddy (who was my general manager) would always remind me that I don't know what the particular person was going through. Good thing to remember :)

Beautiful outfit and great reminder! It is so important to stop and remember that we don't know what is going on with people and we should always try to treat each other with love. ;) And maybe keep the weird comments to ourselves.

zoey is the slowest eater on the planet, so i usually paint my nails while stuck in a chair for hours on end nursing... other mom's always comment about wishing they had time, and I just think "I wish I didn't spend all day nursing"

It's like Utchdorf said, when you start to judge someone just Stop It. Great post.
