Depressing Movie Endings~

Have you ever seen a pretty decent movie.....

and you're waiting for a pretty decent to really good ending....

and then a character dies...or the couple doesn't end up together...or it just ends?

Why do they make movies like this?

We go to the movies to ESCAPE reality...not to be reminded of it!!!

Example...Nights of Rodanthe...*Spoiler Alert* if you haven't seen it...

Diane Lane and Richard Gere have this beautiful romance during the movie....

and he DIES in the end....WHY???

Another movie....Friday Night Lights...love the tv show...hate the movie...

A high school football team from Texas makes it all the way to the state champs...

and LOSE??

What sports movie makes the main team lose in the end??

Do you guys have any other movies you would like to add to the list?~

Oh yeah!! How about:

I am legend-he goes through all this stuff and then just dies. Even the alternate ending stunk!

Premonition-he still dies!?! If you haven't seen it don't.

5 people you meet in heaven-really the whole movie is bad but the end just doesn't make sense.

I second Premonition. It could even be argued that she's the reason he dies. If she hadn't called him while he was driving on the highway, he wouldn't have died.

In Good Company - this wasn't a great movie at the beginning, but it ends up being just a really big mess. And no one ends up together.

The Break Up - despite the title of the movie, I still hoped Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn would end up together in the end. And they didn't. Bummer.

Um... I would have to say Romeo and Juliet... even though I know how it ends... it still makes me depressed for a week! In fact, I avoid watching it if at all possible :(

Cold Mountain was one that upset me… I don’t know if it was because he died and they didn’t end up getting married and living happily ever after or just the fact that it was Jude Law who died.

Another one was Saving Private Ryan. I so wanted Tom Hanks to return home to his wife.

And finally my favorite movie of all time (Gone With the Wind) didn’t end exactly how I wanted it to. Rhett and Scarlett were supposed to stay together forever and Melanie was not supposed to die. But I guess it’s the unexpected that makes a really good movie.

So I just watched Castaway for the first time...totally depressing ending. He is almost engaged then gets stranded on an island for 4 years. He comes back and the girls is married with kids...the end.

totally agree with the premonition thing. that movie was so freakin' DISTURBING!!!!!! i actually watched it twice, thinking the second time, okay, maybe i just missed something/wasn't in the right frame of mind/fell asleep and actually missed the movie and made something up.....nope. still freaky and disturbing. cold mountain, second that one. what was the big deal, i wonder? jude law isn't THAT good looking, not enough to save that movie, anyway. cast away i actually like, mainly for the music, and the points it makes. ones i'll never watch again:all the pretty horses (note cold mountain comment and insert matt damon's name.)
sommersby (GREAT movie, but i still go 'argggh!' at the end, every time.)

roman holiday (gregory peck and audrey hepburn SO need to stay together!!!!)

i think you've heard enough out of me, for now. :)
